I have been following Kristin over at “The Imperfect Home” for awhile now, and I LOVE all her great organizing tips and photos. As a busy Mom with two kids and a business, my life is CRAZY! So, I’m always in search of ways to bring a little more calm to my chaos. Today, she’s got a fabulous post that applies to all of you saving superstars, about how to organize your loyalty and rewards cards.
Here’s Kristin’s post – but be sure to check out her website for all her other organizing tips.
It seems like just about every store now offers some sort of loyalty card program and keeping them organized can be a juggling act. Many offer a small tag that will clip on your key ring, but I have never been a fan of that method. I like my key ring to be simple and uncluttered.
For the past couple of years I’ve used KeyRingThing.com and it has been a great solution. The service consolidates up to 6 loyalty cards onto one and can really lighten the load. I recently migrated to CardStar and it is working beautifully. CardStar is a free app that you download to your smartphone. Setting up the app was as simple as taking a photo of the barcode on my loyalty cards (I used my old KeyRingThing card) and I was ready to roll. The cashier scans the barcode from your smartphone and so far it has worked like a charm.

Recycle Bank has new ways to earn, you’ll be directed to Aveeno’s facebook page where you can “like” them and then click a pledge to be published to your facebook wall. The pledges are for 10, 15 or 25 pts and include things like educating people about not using plastic bottles. There are some bonuses to this particular Recyclebank points challenge. If you “like” the Aveeno facebook page, you’ll discover there is a $1off coupon there to print and then they are also promoting that if they reach 30,000 pledges by May 30th they’ll release coupons that will save you $25 on $50 worth of Aveeno products. That sounds promising. They are only 1,900 pledges away. So, go earn yourself some points, a coupon and maybe some BIG savings for later. Also, always be sure to check the “hot deals” at recyclebank rewards, that is where they list rewards that have had their points price reduced. Today, you could get 15% off Green Toys for 40 points instead of 75.

You will see many deals available through Amazon show an even further reduction on the price if you use the “Subscribe and Save” program. For those unfamiliar with this little gem, I thought maybe it would be wise to explain exactly how it works:
When you order through Subscribe & Save, you’ll automatically receive a new shipment of the item in intervals you select at a discount on our everyday price. If the price of the item increases or decreases, the amount you’re charged will also increase or decrease, even though your discount percentage remains the same. Plus, all subscription orders ship free. You will be notified before the order ships and they only charge your credit card for each order when the item is shipped. You may cancel at any time. To start a subscription for any product, choose a quantity and delivery schedule, then click “Subscribe now”. You’ll be asked to provide a delivery address, payment method, and billing address. Once the order has been placed, your first order will be processed and your subscription activated.
Subscribe and Save is particularly handy for food items or other goods you use and purchase with some regularity. This could include diapers, baby food, specialty snacks, personal care products, etc. Most importantly though, you can CANCEL at any time, so you can even use it on a one time purchase as long as you remember to cancel before the next shipment.

If you are an animal lover, here’s another great opportunity to earn points at Recyclebank. To earn your points, just click on over the Recyclebank, select the earn points tab and then scroll down (about the third row) and look for the little icon above. You’ll get some handy info on how to recycle the containers your pet food comes in and you’ll get 25 points added to your account.
Also, if you have a pet, you can use your Recyclebank points for pet food and other pet related product coupons and discounts. Added bonus, the normal number of points required for these savings has been reduced, so its even easier to grab a great deal for your pet.
