Looks like Recyclebank has been doing some maintenance on their rewards.  This is great news because if you’ve already earned points you may be able to go back and earn more, and if not now is a great time to sign up and receive great coupons with rewards points attached.  Just head here to Recyclebank and create an account or login if you already have one.  After you are logged in, click on the “Earn Points” tab at the top, then you’ll be able to scroll through the various ways you can earn.  Also, remember to click on the “Get Rewards” tab to see all the coupons and deals you can get!

Here are some of the possibilites:

Dove: Save $2 on any (1) Dove product – 50 points

Aveeno: Save $2 on any (1) Aveeno Product – 100 points

Ziplock: 100 count Sandwich bag – 12 points

CVS has an offer going on facebook right now, they will distribute a 20%-25% off coupon depending on the number of “likes” they get on facebook. The more likes the better the deal. To get the deal, you will have to register your Extra Care card for emails (I’ve done this before, but it still let me do it to access this offer).  Have your card ready though, I had to go hunt mine down (so annoying).

The  pass will be emailed to you on Tuesday 6/28/11. The 3-day pass will be good on one entire purchase (excluding sale items) through Thursday 6/30/11.

CVS was okay

June 19, 2011

Last night, I got my coupon book organized and went to CVS a day early. One of the things that most people don’t know about CVS is that you can get Sunday’s prices on Saturday night if your store IS NOT a 24-hour store. I don’t know what time the registers actually switch over, but I have gone in twice between 8-9 PM and been able to get the next day’s deals a little early. It’s pretty awesome.

Speaking of awesome, CVS was just okay this week.  (Unlike Walgreens, which was so awful I had an urge to put on too much eyeliner and write bad poetry about it.)

Fun stuff this week at CVS

1) Hawaiian Tropic sun tan lotion and oil – spend $20, get $10 ECB back. There was a coupon for $1.00 off each in an old Sunday paper. Like paying $8 for 2. Nice.

2) Hershey’s Bliss candy… on sale for $5.99 with $5.99 ECB back. Free!

3) Pantene products: On sale $2 for 7, with $2 ECB back. Also, there was a $1.00 off coupon in last week’s paper. So it was like getting 2 for $3.

4) Colgate Total toothpaste… on sale for $2.79, $2 in ECB back, and there was a $1 off coupon in last week’s paper. Money maker!

5) Harvest Bars on sale for $0.99 each, and there was a B1G1 printable here. Not too bad, and I like to try new things.

Total cost of items:     $44.87

Less coupons and discounts:   -$17.70

OOP:   $27.17

ECB back:   -$20.00

Like paying $7.17 for all of that stuff! Holla!!

There was absolutely NOTHING exciting on sale this week. No good RR deals, no great freebies, just a giant bag full of nothing. I’m not even kidding, as my 9 year-old would say. In fact, if I didn’t need hairspray and conditioner, I probably wouldn’t have bothered going in at all.

Here’s the world’s lamest haul:

I'm almost embarrassed to show you this...

1) Suave RR deal – buy $10 in participating items, get $3 in RR back. Like I said, we needed hairspray, so I got two bottles of the “professional, touchable” kind because I had a coupon for $0.50 off each. And I had another coupon for B1G1 on the body wash which I use as cheap bubble bath for my kids. So now my husband will have a “touchable” head, which I’m sure every man appreciates; and my kids will smell like mangoes.

2) They’re still doing the $5 RR for that Pro Fusion Razor, so I used my last $4 coupon for it… like getting it for $0.89 cents.

3) I needed conditioner, and that’s my brand. The L’Oreal EverPure. On sale for $6 this week, and I had a $1 coupon; and $5 is a good price. It is really good conditioner, I promise.

4) The rest were just filler items. I bought 3 Diet Pepsi 12-packs because they were 3/$10 (not pictured, because I was too lazy to bring them in from the garage) because they make my husband happy, Pop Tarts make my son happy and chocolate makes my daughter happy.

Here’s the final tally:

Total cost of items:        $59.86

Less coupons and discounts:         -$39.06

OOP:      $20.80

RR back:    -$8.00

So it was like getting ALL of that for… $12. –YAWN– Wait, are you still reading this? I know – I’m still typing it too. Zzzzz… Walgreens…. boring…. zzzz….

On their Facebook wall today, CVS announced that you can now register your ECB card to get more “cash back” when you buy certain items in the store. The program is called SavingStar (click here for more info) and you can select “e-coupons” onto your card on certain products.

The weird part? It doesn’t deduct the savings amount from your bill. Your bill stays the same. It just banks your savings into an account that you can later withdraw from – or donate to charity.

Not sure how I feel about that. I’d rather save BEFORE I spend.

When I “redeem” my first SavingStar coupon, I’ll let you know. Hopefully it won’t cause drama at the register if I have a “paper” coupon for the same item.

Now, THIS week was more like it should always be at CVS. I didn’t let myself get distracted by the gas card promo or any special P&G promotion to get a razor free that I can usually get for less than a dollar at Walgreens anyway.

I put my list together, cut my coupons, and stayed on target!

Clean clothes and clean pits...

- The Bayer aspirin deal is the same at CVS this week as it is at Walgreens. On sale for $3, you get $1 in ECB back, and there’s a $2 coupon in the paper. Free!

- Off Clip-ons I had a BOGO coupon for. You got $2 in ECB when you bought one this week.

- Purex was on sale this week BOGO as well. There was a coupon for it for $1 off, but it expired last night, DANG IT!

- Degree deodorant was on sale for 2/$12 and you got $4 in ECB back.

- The gum was BOGO – and I really just needed some gum. Nothing to see here people, move along…

There were two really good free deals that I didn’t get to do because they were out of stock (I rainchecked)…

- Motrin PM on sale for $4 this week, you get $3 in ECB’s back, and there’s a $1 off coupon in this week’s paper – FREE

- Schick Hydro 5 is FREE this week: On sale for $8, you get $4 in ECB back, and there’s the $4 coupon in this week’s paper.

Drumroll, please…

Total value of items:     $60.00

Less coupons and in-store discounts:    -$45.69

Out-of-pocket:    $14.31

ECB back:    -$9.00

It’s like getting all that stuff for $5.31! Booyah!

Walgreens haul!

June 12, 2011

It’s funny – when I get my stuff out to take pictures of it, it never seems like that much stuff. But I guess that’s the point, isn’t it? We don’t need to have 87 shopping carts full of stuff to be smart shoppers and big savers. A little bit at a time is all that it takes.

This week, once again, I got paid to take stuff out of Walgreens. This week’s trip:

This week, it's shave-tastic!

I took advantage of quite a few freebies with Register Rewards this week:

- Blistex RPM lip balm for MEN! Let’s all grab the remote and scratch ourselves! It’s on sale this week for $2, with $2 in RR back. Free! (PS – I tried this when I got home. It’s basically non-flavored lip balm. I like it.)

- Wal-Fex allergy 24-hour. On sale for $3.99 with $3.99 in RR back. Free!

- Gillette Pro Fusion Razor. On sale for $9.89 with $5.00 in RR back, and there’s a $4 off coupon in last week’s P&G brandSAVER insert. It’s like getting it for $0.89! (Plus this is the razor I got all excited about last week that I got for free with the CVS promo. I should have just waited.)

- Bayer Advanced Aspirin. On sale for $3, with $1 in RR back. There’s a coupon in this week’s paper for $2 – Free!

- Schick Hydro 5 razor system. On sale for $8.99 with $4 in RR back, and there was a $4 coupon in this week’s paper. It’s like getting it for $0.99!

- Vitamin Water 3/$3. This isn’t that great a deal. I was just thirsty (see, one is missing because I drank it). Plus I needed some filler items.

- Schick Hydro Shave Gel. On sale for $1.99 with in-ad coupon, and there’s a $0.75 coupon in this week’s paper. Got it for $1.25.

- Mitchum Deodorant. In-ad coupon for $1.99 each, and I had a $0.75 coupon from this week’s paper.

The popcorn was just another filler item. (At Walgreen’s you can’t use more than 1 coupon per item, and I was using some of my RR from last week. So I throw in some cheap items so I can use my high-value RR at the checkout.)

Drumroll, please…

Total value of items: $53.30

Less coupons and in-store discounts: -$43.72

Out-of-pocket: $9.58

RR back: -$16.00

I basically made $6 to go shop today. Taaa-daaa!
